These collections are an ode to the beauty of clean yet flamboyant aesthetics. A skillful combination of bold colors and textures creates an air of romance and drama in each piece. Details and finish have been thoughtfully considered, resulting in a refined and polished look. The prints and textiles used in the collections transport the viewer into a world of whimsy and imagination. The clear concepts behind each collection are like windows into the JMP’s creative mind, where inspiration is drawn from urban surroundings, childhood memories, personal experiences, and the queer community. The muses, who have inspired these are evident in every stitch, making the collections not just visually stunning but also deeply personal. The love for exposed seams and deconstruction is a nod to the beauty of imperfection, adding a touch of rawness and process to the collections. The unwavering commitment to sustainability is reflected in their zero-waste design approach, creating pieces that not only look beautiful but also contribute to a better world.

Oversized tailored silhouettes in bold colors contribute to the nostalgic feel and evoke memories of past fashion trends. The collection explores the differences between memory and imagination and creates a sense of nostalgia and a desire to reconnect with the past.

FUNKUS
COLLECTION: FKS
SEASON: SP/23
Looks: 4
Preface: The inspiration behind the Funkus collection is the fascinating world of fungi, which influenced the use of crochet and layering in its design. The collection draws inspiration from mycelium, the intricate underground network created by fungi that allows trees to communicate with each other. Additionally, the crochet and knit manipulation of the collection is inspired by Phallus indusiatus, a type of mushroom. The crochet techniques used in the collection are meant to emulate the structure of mycelium, while a psychedelic plaid textile design adds to the overall aesthetic.

Preface: Inspired by sustainability, Rough Around The Edges is a collection that utilizes Japanese Boro-Boro to translate Sashiko stitching into digital prints. Boro is the Japanese word for "tattered" or reworked. Rather than scrapping, mending techniques accept imperfections as permanent features and focus on highlighting them instead. These prints were achieved by mimicking tears on denim and applying them to placement and repeat prints.
